Updated October 2026 Β· seven tools, one list
The best AI blog tools in 2026, ranked by what they are actually for.
Nobody buys βan AI blog toolβ β they buy a way out of one specific problem: too few pages, no WordPress workflow, no distribution, or a blog that stops publishing every time somebody gets busy. Below: the short answer for each of those problems, a table you can scan in twenty seconds, and one card per tool with its entry price, what it does better than the rest, what it does not do, and the job it is actually right for. Xt4b is our own product, and its card says where it loses.
The short answer.
If you read one thing on this page, read this: the tool to pick for each job people actually arrive with.

The list, one card per tool.
What it is, what it does better than the rest, what it does not do, and the job it is actually right for.
Koala AI
$25/mo for 45,000 words Β· free tier writes articles
The category default, and the tool most people mean when they say βAI blog writerβ. KoalaWriter drafts long-form articles in one click with SEO optimisation, brand DNA and internal linking; KoalaImages makes the graphics; one-click publishing pushes the result into WordPress, Shopify, Webflow or Ghost. A dashboard built on your own Search Console data and an MCP server mean the same tools can be driven by an assistant instead.
- What it does better than the rest
- The most capability per euro in the list: writing, images, internal links, keyword research, a Search Console dashboard and an API from $25 a month β and publishing into a CMS you already run, with no DNS change and no new hostname to explain.
- What it does not do
- The blog lives in your CMS, so the bill moves with volume and nothing keeps publishing when the word allowance runs out. Planning is keyword- and prompt-driven rather than built from the pages you already rank with.
- Pick it if
- You want one subscription to do everything around the writing, and you publish into a CMS you already run.
Byword
$83/mo for 25 articles Β· $2.50β$3.50 per extra article
Bulk generation from keyword lists and programmatic templates, for teams whose deliverable is a number of pages rather than a publication rhythm. You hand it keywords, it returns articles, and an API means it can be wired into a pipeline you already have. Everything is priced per article, so cost tracks output directly.
- What it does better than the rest
- Cost per page at scale, and template work: location pages, comparisons and glossaries generated in bulk rather than one at a time, which is the slowest kind of page to write by hand.
- What it does not do
- It stops at the article. There is no plan built from your existing pages, no schedule, and nothing that keeps publishing on its own β and the cheap per-article price is only cheap if you have somewhere to put the output.
- Pick it if
- The number of pages is the deliverable β hundreds a month, not twenty.
Autoblogging.ai
Credit-based, priced per article
Autoblogging for WordPress, and the most WordPress-native tool here: a plugin, unlimited connected sites, batches of up to 500 articles, scheduled auto-posting, batch rewrites of posts you already have, a news mode, Amazon review posts, and AI-visibility tracking on top. If your whole stack is WordPress, it works the way that stack already works.
- What it does better than the rest
- WordPress depth β scheduled auto-posting, batch rewrites of existing posts, news mode, Amazon review posts β plus unlimited connected sites and AI-visibility tracking, which no other tool here bundles.
- What it does not do
- It is a WordPress tool: anything off WordPress is out of scope. And as with every generator on this list, the posts still need somebody to decide they were worth publishing.
- Pick it if
- WordPress is the whole stack and you want posts landing inside it.
BabyLoveGrowth
$99/mo for 30 articles Β· $399 for 120 and four languages
An autopilot agent. It writes and publishes the posts, then adds the two things most generators leave out: backlinks from its own network, and tracking of how often the brand is mentioned in AI assistants. It is sold on distribution as much as on writing, and the pricing ladder is built around volume.
- What it does better than the rest
- The only tool on the list that sells backlinks and AI-assistant visibility alongside the content, so one subscription covers the writing and the first push to get it found.
- What it does not do
- Those links come from a shared network, which is a different thing from links earned editorially. The ladder is built around volume, so it is expensive for a site publishing twenty posts a month.
- Pick it if
- Distribution and mentions are the bottleneck, not the writing.
Article Forge
$13/mo for 25,000 words Β· 30-day money-back guarantee
The veteran of the category: a keyword in, a 1,500-word article out, published automatically if you connect it. It does one thing β text at the lowest possible price β and it has been doing it long enough that what you get is entirely predictable.
- What it does better than the rest
- Price per word, by a distance, plus a 30-day money-back guarantee that makes trying it cheap. For pure word volume at the bottom of the market, nothing here undercuts it.
- What it does not do
- It generates text, not pages you would defend: no research, no plan, no images, no internal links. Thin content published at this volume is exactly what search updates are aimed at, and the cheap words can cost more to clean up than they saved.
- Pick it if
- You need text at the lowest possible price and the post does not have to be good.
GrowthBar
$65/mo per site
SEO keyword research with a brief-and-draft generator attached, billed per site rather than per article or per seat. The research half is the point: keyword difficulty, competitor data, and briefs you can hand to a writer β human or otherwise.
- What it does better than the rest
- Keyword research sold as a deliverable in its own right, at a per-site price that includes a few languages instead of charging for every seat that wants to look at it.
- What it does not do
- The drafts are the weaker half of the product, and there is no blog at the end of it: you still need somewhere to publish what it writes, and a reason for those pages to exist.
- Pick it if
- Research is the bottleneck and you can publish the drafts from somewhere else.
Xt4b
20β¬/mo per site per language
Our own product, and the only one here that treats the blog itself as part of the job. It reads your homepage and sitemap, builds a dated plan from the queries you do not answer yet, writes each post against that plan, and publishes it to a blog hosted on your own domain β one DNS record, its own sitemap, canonical URLs and structured data per post. Every language is planned from its own market's searches rather than translated from the English one.
- What it does better than the rest
- The blog is hosted for you on your own domain, and the plan is built from the pages you already have, per language. Publishing β not drafting β is the product, which is why the posts keep arriving on the dates the calendar promised.
- What it does not do
- It loses on volume and on price per word: no batch of 500 articles, no $13 a month, no backlink network, no image studio or MCP toolkit. It publishes fewer posts than the bulk tools on purpose. It is also our product, so weigh this verdict with the scepticism that deserves.
- Pick it if
- The bottleneck is a blog that keeps publishing on real dates, and you would rather not install anything or batch-upload anything.
Not on the list, because they are a different job.
These come up in the same searches and are genuinely good β they just answer a different question from 'how does my blog get written'. Included so you do not have to work it out after buying one.
- Clearscope, Surfer
- Grade a draft you already have against the SERP. Buy these if grading is your bottleneck; they do not plan, write or publish a blog.
- MarketMuse
- A content inventory and topic-authority score at scale, now sold through a demo. The right buy for thousands of legacy URLs, not for a publishing cadence β /vs/marketmuse covers how the two fit together.
- Frase, Jasper, Copy.ai
- Briefs, drafts and (in Frase's case) auditing and publishing. Frase overlaps Xt4b enough to have its own page β /vs/frase β because the useful question is which half each one should own.
- Your CMS's own AI plugin
- Convenient, and free if it came with the theme. Worth trying before buying anything β and worth replacing once the posts have to be planned rather than generated.
Choosing in one minute.
Three questions, in the order that actually decides it.
The short version
- Is the deliverable pages or a cadence? Pages β Byword or Autoblogging.ai, priced per article. A cadence β Xt4b, priced per site, or Koala AI on a word allowance.
- Where should the posts live? In the CMS you already run: any tool on this list except Xt4b. On a blog you do not want to install anything on: Xt4b, on a subdomain of your own domain.
- What else do you need? Images and research β Koala AI. Backlinks and AI-assistant mentions β BabyLoveGrowth. Keyword research β GrowthBar. The absolute lowest price per word β Article Forge.
How this list was built.
So you can weigh it, including the parts that are not in our favour.
- Prices were checked vendor by vendor on their own pricing pages rather than taken from review roundups, and re-checked in October 2026. Where a vendor does not publish a list price, the entry says what the pricing model is instead of quoting a number: Autoblogging.ai is credit-based, MarketMuse is sold through a demo.
- Every tool was compared on the same six things: entry price, what the article is worth once it lands, where the posts are published, whether there is a plan behind them, what happens in a language other than English, and what the tool refuses to do.
- Xt4b is our own product and sits last in the list, so it loses the comparisons you would expect it to lose: volume, price per word, and the breadth of everything around the writing. The six competitor entries each have their own page with the same rule β where the competitor wins, the page says so.
Updated October 2026. When a vendor changes its pricing, the numbers here change with it.
The questions this list does not answer on its own.
Including the two that decide it for most people.
Which of these is actually the best?
There is no single answer, which is why this page is sorted by job rather than ranked. If you want the shortest version: Byword for hundreds of pages, Koala AI for one tool that does everything around the writing, Autoblogging.ai if you live in WordPress, Article Forge if price is the only metric, and Xt4b if you want the blog hosted and publishing on dates you do not have to manage.
Where does Xt4b lose?
Volume, price per word, and features. It cannot generate 500 articles in a batch (Byword and Autoblogging.ai can), it does not touch $13 a month (Article Forge does), it has no backlink network or AI-visibility tracker (BabyLoveGrowth does), and it has nothing like Koala's image, research and MCP toolkit. It publishes fewer posts and owns the whole path from query to live URL.
Is there a free AI blog tool on this list?
Koala AI's free tier writes articles up to 5,000 words a month, which is enough to judge the output. Article Forge starts at $13. If you run WordPress, the AI plugin your theme shipped with costs nothing and is worth trying before you buy anything β the point at which it stops being enough is the point at which the posts have to be planned rather than generated.
Which of these is best for SEO specifically?
It depends on which half of SEO you are missing. Research: GrowthBar. Pages that exist at all: Byword or Autoblogging.ai. Content that keeps being published and links internally from pages that sell: Xt4b. Bulk text with no plan behind it is the one approach no page in this category can defend.
Are the prices on this page current?
They were taken from each vendor's own pricing page in October 2026. Plan names, allowances and prices change, so check before you buy β and where a vendor does not publish a list price, this page says what the pricing model is rather than inventing a number.
Do any of these work without installing a plugin?
Xt4b does not touch your existing site at all: the blog is served from a subdomain you point at it with one DNS record. Everything else here publishes into something you already run β a CMS, a plugin, or an API call to your own pipeline.
Can I run two of them?
Yes, and plenty of teams do. The common split is a bulk tool for the long tail and a publishing pipeline for the recurring posts on the main blog. The one thing to settle first is where the canonical copy lives β two tools writing the same query on two hostnames is the mistake that costs the most to unpick.
Prices on this page were read from each vendor's own pricing page in October 2026 and change without us. Nothing here is a promise of rankings, traffic or revenue β those are not guaranteed by any tool on the list, including Xt4b.
